CPR Boards
Whether you are buying new equipment or replacing old gear, if you are in the market for a CPR board check out our selection. A CPR board, also known as a cardiac board, is used to create a hard surface to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on.
CRP consists of chest compressions that are designed to stimulate the heart and keep the muscle working if a person loses consciousness. The idea is to keep the heart pumping blood to keep vital organs in order to keep those organs on the receiving end of oxygen-rich blood. The premise is to keep the brain and organs alive until additional lifesaving measures can be taken. A CPR board is a hard board that is placed under the head and back of the victim. Chest compressions need to be performed on a hard surface or they are not effective. The second part of CPR is giving the victim breaths. In order for the victim to receive the breaths their neck must be straight and extended and the face must be facing forward. Some boards feature an indentation for the head to assure the victim has the proper alignment.
The board is ideal for training and is also a necessary item in many doctor's offices, nursing homes, and on crash carts. Routinely inspect your board to make sure it is clean and free of damage. Make sure you know and abide by all state and federal laws regarding the possession and use of CPR boards.
