The benefit of giving the breath still passes through the face shield, but salvia, blood and other bodily fluids cannot easily and are less likely to pass from one person to the other. If a victim has an open wound the rescuer's gloves will protect them; likewise, if the rescuer has a cut on his or her hands the use of disposable gloves prevents the rescuer's blood from coming into contact with the victim.
