Dog First Aid
Do right by your furry friend and purchase a dog first aid kit. Dogs have unique needs and first aid kits intended for people do not always have the right first aid supplies. A first aid kit for animals is chock full of dog-friendly first aid gear so you can rest easy knowing that if your pet encounters a medical issue you can give the first aid care.
Adhesive bandages typically do not work for dogs because the bandages do not stick to fur very well. Bandages that can be wrapped around an injury are usually more effective. Tweezers, scissors, and an oral syringe are handy items to keep in your family first aid kit; however, you probably do not want to share all of these items with your dog. These tools also have additional value when performing first aid on your pet. Scissors can be used to trim fur while tweezers can come in handy if your dog has a run in with a porcupine.
Taking the time to make sure you have the necessary first aid supplies at the ready for your canine companion allows you to easily handle unexpected medical problems. Try to replace first aid supplies as you use them, but as with any first aid kit make sure to inspect your dog's first aid kit from time to time to make sure you have not run out of supplies and nothing has expired. Replace missing or expired items to make sure your dog first aid kit is ready for action.
