Emergency Medical Supplies
Your emergency medical kit is only as good as the medical supplies in it. Make sure you have a full inventory of supplies to handle anything and everything so you can give the best care possible in an emergency situation. You have done your patients a disservice if you cannot give quality care because you are out of supplies or your gear is broken.
Periodically take the time to go through your emergency medical kit. Check out all of the supplies. Look to make sure the tops on tubes or jars of ointment or creams have been securely in place. If not, make sure the salve inside is still useable, if it has dried out and cannot be used dispose of it. Check that packets of sun block or insect repellant have not been damaged. Also check the packaging of sterilized items for punctures or tears or other type of damage. Make sure any item with an expiration date, like medications and eye wash, are still valid. Check to see if you have run out of any items or if you are about to run out of a specific product. Make sure tools, like tweezers and scissors are still in tip-top condition and work as they should.
