Eyewash
Eyewash is a versatile solution that is right at home in your eye wash station, and first aid kit, as well as with your contact lens supplies. Make sure to check the expiration date on the eyewash in your eyewash station. Replace the bottle if it is expired. We have replacement bottles of eyewash available to re-stock your eyewash station and just to keep on hand.
Eyewash is essentially saline, which is a sterilized sodium chloride solution. This salt water solution is close to the salt content of the human body, which is why saline is also used in IV drips and other medical applications. Eyewash can be used to clean your contact lenses; you can store your lenses in eyewash if you need to remove them from your eyes. Eyewash is also great to rinse your eyes if contaminants or irritants enter the eye. It can also be used if you are experiencing itchy, red, dry, or otherwise irritated eyes. Since eyewash is so useful it is good practice to keep a bottle in your medicine cabinet and even your kitchen in case food splashes into your eyes while cooking or in your garage in case something gets in your eyes while working on your car or while mowing the lawn. Eyewash can also be used to wash your hands or rinse a cut in the absence of water. Saline does not kill germs and bacteria the way disinfectants do, but it can help in a pinch.
