First Aid Masks
Prevent the spread of airborne pathogens with a first aid mask. We offer a basic mask that slips over the ears to secure the mask over your mouth and nose. A first aid mask is usually worn by people in the medical profession to catch bacteria from the wearers mouth and nose. The mask helps to maintain a clean environment and protects others from harmful contaminants that can be spread through coughing, sneezing, and even breathing. Just wearing the mask can be enough to remind the wearer not to touch their nose and mouth which further prevents the spread and transfer of germs and bacteria from the wearers hands to commonly touched surfaces, like door knobs and light switches. The mask does little to protect the wearer from picking up new germs and bacteria. It does prevent this to a mild degree. It is also absolutely necessary to regularly change the mask to prevent the wearer from re-infecting themselves. Eventually the mask will become full of germs and the wearer will breathe those germs in again if it is not replaced with a clean mask.
Wearing a first aid mask is actually very common in some parts of Asia and Japan to prevent the spread of airborne pathogens. It is rare for people outside of Asia and Japan to wear a fist aid mask, but it is picking up momentum with some professions that require a lot of contact with others, especially those who work in day care centers or nursing homes. A simple mask contains germs from the wearer and can protect those nearby from being exposed to illnesses.
