Spineboards
If your spineboard, or back board has seen better days or you need to buy your first board, check out our selection of spinal boards. A spine board is used to stabilize a victim's spine after an accident. The support from the board minimizes further injury while first responders give care. The spine board also makes it easier for first responders to lift and carry a patient, again, while preventing further injury to the patient's back and neck.
When looking to purchase a spine board think about how you will use it and what features it has to have. Polyethylene, or plastic boards can hold their own when exposed, and even fully submerged in water. Some plastic boards are even buoyant to further aid in water rescue. Another value to plastic is it is easy to clean. The job of a first responder can be demanding so being able to quickly and efficiently clean your board and get back to work if pivotal. Many of the boards we have available are translucent when X-rayed. This means a patient strapped to a board can undergo tests without the need to remove them from the board. In the event of serve damage this allows medical personnel get a handle on the situation and diagnosis while maintaining the support offered by the board. Consider how many handholds the board has. Also look to the weight capacity. We offer boards that support up to 2,000 pounds; we also offer pediatric boards that are specifically designed for children since it is not safe to strap a child to an adult spine board.
