Survival Kits
Instead of worrying about what you would do in an emergency situation, make a plan about what you will do. Part of having a plan is putting together a survival kit. A survival kit should include all of the supplies you would find in an all-purpose or home first aid kit. You need to make sure you can give the necessary care for minor injuries or stabilize more serious injuries until you can get to medical help. Make sure your survival kit includes bandages, antiseptic, medications, hot and cold compress packs, and more. A survival kit also includes supplies designed to keep you safe, comfortable, and healthy until you can leave to get help or until help can get to you. High calorie food rations, emergency drinking water pouches, fire retardant blankets, and other items designed to keep you fed, hydrated, warm and comfortable, at least as much as possible. You should keep a survival kit at home, as well as in your car, and in any other vehicles you own, like an ATV, boat, or camper. Disaster can strike at any time, and unfortunately it does not let you know ahead of time when it's coming, so you need to make sure you are ready for it.
Make sure you check your survival kit from time to time. You should look to make sure your kit is fully stocked. If items have been used they need to be replaced. If items have expired, they too need to be replaced. Make the packaging of any sterilized first aid equipment has not been ripped or torn. Also make sure batteries still work and nothing has been damaged. Planning today and protect you tomorrow.
